Leading Our Electric Utility Customers Forward with Grit, Resilience and Flexibility

The past few months have upended lives around the world as we adjust to a new way of working during a global crisis. And now more than ever, software is proving to be mission critical.

I’m proud to witness the way that the GE Digital team is helping utilities navigate these challenging times with grit, resolve, resilience, and flexibility. Despite the ongoing impacts of the pandemic, our focus remains on the safety of our people, our ability to service our customers, and our continued commitment to investing in the strength of our business.

Last week, I was pleased to learn that our team achieved the number one leadership position in Navigant Research’s Advanced Distribution Management Solutions (ADMS) Leaderboard report. The research comprises much customer feedback, and I am deeply grateful for their insights and the continued trust they place in us.

To give some context, the Navigant Research Leaderboard ranks nine ADMS vendors based on a spectrum of 10 strategy and execution criteria. Vendors are profiled, rated, and ranked with the goal of providing an objective assessment of their relative strengths and weaknesses in the global ADMS market.

As those of us in the world of electric utilities are well aware, every day the management of the grid becomes more challenging. The distribution network is becoming progressively dynamic, complexity is increasing and the volume of data that utilities need to understand and integrate continues to grow.

GE Digital’s ADMS combines SCADA, distribution optimization, outage response, DER orchestration, and mobility into a single platform to deliver secure, integrated operations across the Distribution grid. Supplying approximately 25% of the world’s global meters served by ADMS, our software supports the full spectrum of utilities – from small to largest – with mission critical, proven operational systems. We’re pleased to serve customers like Stedin, Alabama Power and Energy Queensland, all of whom depend on our solutions to deliver reliability, productivity and efficiency throughout their distribution grid operations.

As the electric grid continues to evolve and change – particularly in these unprecedented times – we anticipate further market disruption. It’s difficult to say what the future holds, but one thing I do know is our team is committed to continue to deliver innovative solutions so utilities can better operate, analyze and optimize their operations.
