Neste (NESTE, Nasdaq Helsinki), advanced refiner of high-quality oil products and the world's largest producer of renewable diesel refined from waste and residues is implementing an Asset Performance Management (APM) Integrity cloud-based solution from GE Digital at its Porvoo and Naantali refineries in Finland.
Neste’s digitization efforts are focused on sustained operational safety as well as implementing a comprehensive approach to inspection and risk management that considers all the safety, operational, regulatory factors that are critical for a refinery’s well-being.
By leveraging a 100% cloud-based solution, we helped Neste digitalize their inspection and integrity process for around 4000 static equipment such as pressure vessels, heat exchangers and piping across 6 production lines.
The deployment makes it possible for Neste’s users to calculate risk and the remaining useful life of assets to generate, implement, and execute optimized inspection strategies and at the same time continue to be compliant with the relevant safety and integrity regulations in Finland.
The APM Integrity pillar is enabling Neste to manage an end to end process from assessing the risk of the assets through API compliant 580 RBI methodology and implement cost effective inspection plans that are not only time-based but also risk-based. Some specific modules that are being used are:
Being part of an APM ecosystem solution will enable, in the longer term, optimization of inspection and maintenance strategies, allowing operators to dynamically find the optimal balance between availability, cost and risk. Neste is the first Unified APM in Europe, and we are in discussions with them to expand our solution to additional opportunities at their sites around the world.
Using our core Digital Twin Blueprint library, our Industrial Managed Services Team virtually monitors over 7,000 managed assets around the world. Every day, Digital Twin blueprints monitor 250,000 tags in real-time, generating over 60 catches a week. These catches can range from recommending a $2,000 sensor replacement, to preventing a $60 million plant failure.
