Russ Dietz is the Chief Security Officer for GE Digital and the General Manager of the Industrial Internet Cyber & Operational Technology (OT) Security Center of Excellence. In this role, Russ leads the cyber security strategy, vision and execution for GE Digital, driving the Secure Development Lifecycle Framework policy and planning, and ensuring the security of GE’s portfolio of Predix platforms and applications. Russ also serves as General Manager of the Industrial Internet Cyber & OT Security CoE where he works directly with global GE cybersecurity experts to identify and replicate best practices across GE.
Russ has more than 30 years of experience in the technology and security space. With a proven track record of success as a technology executive and CTO for multiple high-tech companies, he has achieved landmark results with hardware, software and systems security companies. Russ is also a recognized pioneer and innovator in the cloud computing and virtualization security solution areas. In addition, he currently holds more than 20 patents in encryption, authentication and network traffic behavior and analysis in the United States, European Union, Japan and China.
Prior to GE, Russ held various leadership roles at Websense, SafeNet, Hifn Inc. and Apptitude Inc., along with various management and technical spots at Magnavox Electronic Systems and Digital Equipment Corporation. He is an active member of the Cloud Security Alliance (CSA), Trusted Computing Group (TCG), Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF), Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) and the Cloud Computing Interoperability Forum (CCIF).
