At GE Research, we create machines that exceed traditional performance specs in the harshest industrial environments. Specifically, we develop tools and methods to better predict life and performance in the harshest environments. GE Research also develops technologies and designs to extend the operating range and life of industrial products to enhance our customer's competitive advantage.
Environmental Durability
To create machines that operate anytime/anywhere, GE Research engineers predict and mitigate the impact of dust, water and ice ingestion and accretion on critical components. This has enabled our customers to operate at the highest altitudes and in the harshest climates of any jet engines on earth.

Tribology
When machine components move, its what happens at the surface that matters most. Our teams develop technologies that predict and mitigate wear and fatigue and promote lubrication at these critical interfaces

Component Lifing/Durability
Over time, all hardware develops damage. GE Research engineers develop and validate tools and technologies to predict and extend the life of critical components such as hot gas path turbine parts. Our work has enabled us to better predict maintenance intervals to improve uptime for our customers and to introduce new materials such as ceramic matrix composites (CMCs) to reach new levels of performance.
