From the assembly line to lean manufacturing, we’ve seen how machine power and innovative production processes created leaps in industrial productivity and efficiencies over many decades. We believe the next great leap in the advanced manufacturing industry will happen in years, driven by the power of computing and automation.

Increasingly, more people will have access to new digital tools and crowdsourcing platforms that will allow them to participate in the design and manufacture of new products. In addition, the design of new products themselves will be seamlessly optimized and validated by AI-empowered software programs that contain centuries of learnings about materials and design parameters. The proliferation of 3D printing and automation will enable a faster, more vastly distributed advanced manufacturing network that brings production virtually anywhere, from the most remote of regions to ships at sea.
