Returning a Lot

Before you begin

To return a lot that was consumed, you must have the Return raw material permission. If you do not have the permission to perform this task, request your administrator to provide the permission using the Security application. For more information, refer to Create a Role.

About this task

As an operator, you can access the BOM Details section in the Process Orders application to return the lots for a production event, while executing a process order.
Note: Although, the BOM Details tab is a standard tab; it is not visible by default in the Process Order application. To view it in the Process Order application, in the Configuration application's Standard Tab, you must switch BOM Details to display the tab in the Process Order application. For more information on how to show or hide tabs, refer to Show or Hide Tabs.

Procedure

  1. Log in to Plant Applications Web Client.
  2. Select Process Orders.
    By default, the Open page appears, displaying a list of process orders grouped by the associated execution path in a tabular format.
  3. From the table, select a process order.
    The Process Order Details page appears. In the left panel, you can view the process order that you have selected, along with remaining process orders grouped by their execution paths. In the right panel, you can view the high-level statistics of the process order that you have selected, along with the other details that are segregated under the Statistics, BOM, BOM Details, Properties and History sections.
    Note: If you have defined the custom tab(s) in the Configuration application, the associated custom tab details appear.
  4. Select BOM Details.
    By default, the production events and all the BOM formulation details associated with the selected process order appear.
  5. In Production Event List, select a production event as needed.
    The BOM item details for the selected production event appears.
  6. Select the BOM item that you want to return.
    A window appears, providing information on the required quantity of the BOM item, and the quantity that has been already consumed for the serial/lot. By default, the Consumption History section is displayed in the Consume tab, and when you select the Return tab the Consumed Lots section is displayed.
  7. Select the Return tab.
    The Consumed Lots section is displayed.

    The following table provides information on each column in the Consumed Lots section.

    Column Description
    SERIAL/LOT# The serial/lot of the raw material.
    CONSUMED QTY The actual quantity of the serial/lot consumed while executing an operation.
    AVAILABLE QTY The quantity available for consumption. The quantity available is updated accordingly if the consumed quantity is returned.
    STATUS The status of the serial/lot.
    UOM The unit of measure (UOM) of the BOM item.
    MATERIAL The material number of the serial/lot.
  8. Enter the serial/lot number that you want to return in the SCAN SERIAL/LOT# field.
    Tip: Click the serial/lot number that you want to return in the SERIAL/LOT# column from the Consumed Lots section. The selected serial/lot number will be displayed in the SCAN SERIAL/LOT# field.
  9. Enter the quantity that you want to return in the QUANTITY field.
    Note:
    • You can only return the serial/lot that is consumed.
    • You can not return more than the consumed quantity.
  10. Select one of the valid statuses in the STATUS drop-down box. You must select the status as configured in Plant Applications Administrator for that serial/lot.
    Note:
    • The required status is configured on the unit where the serial/lot is created.
    • If you are a Plant Applications Administrator, you can do any of the following:
      • Add the required status to the valid status list, using Unit Properties Configuration in Plant Applications Administrator > Plant Model.
      • Configure the status of the serial/lot to one of the valid statuses using Production Status Editor in Plant Applications Administrator > Global Configuration.
  11. Select the NCM Enabled checkbox.
    The Create Non Conformance window appears.
  12. Enter details for the following, then select Submit.
    • SUMMARY
    • DEFECT TYPE
    • DEFECT REASON
    A non-conformance is created for the serial or the defective pieces of the lot, and appears in Non Conformance.
  13. Select the Return button.
    The Consumed Lots section is updated. The value of CONSUMED QTY and the AVAILABLE QTY is updated accordingly.
