About the Activities Application

As a supervisor or an operator, you can use the Activities application to create and perform activities associated with an event in the specified duration of a shift. After you perform an activity, you can analyze the data entered for a variable in the quartile view, whisker chart, or SPC charts.

You can perform an activity for the following types of events:
  • Time-based: An event that occurs at a scheduled time.
  • Production-based: A production-based event for a lot or batch on a production line.
  • User-defined: A manually recorded event used to document important occurrences related to process operations.
  • Product change: An event that occurs when there is a product change on a production unit.
  • Process order change: An event that occurs when the process order for the associated production unit is set to Complete in Plant Applications Administrator.
Note: You cannot create an activity for a process order change event in the Activities application. You can only filter the activities associated with this event type.

Before you work on the Activities application, edit the display in Plant Applications Administrator to configure the settings. For example, you can specify whether an activity must be created automatically when an event is created, or the duration within which an activity must be completed after it is created.
