Workflow

Asset Criticality Analysis: Perform Asset Criticality Analysis Workflow

The ACA workflow provides a risk-based approach to determine system and asset criticality. The risk assessment is based on the worst likely case failure for the system or asset to provide an overall risk ranking. This provides a prioritization for asset performance improvement efforts as well as day-to-day asset management activities.

Blue text in a shape indicates that a description is provided for that step in the following sections. For more information, refer to the topic Interpreting the Workflow Diagrams.

About Site Filtering in AMS Analytics

Start Asset Criticality Analysis

Persona: Analyst

The User starts an Asset Criticality Analysis for the purpose of identifying critical systems within a facility and the association of the assets related to the systems.

Determine Analysis Structure

Persona: Analyst

The User defines a structure of the Asset Criticality Analysis that identifies the relationship between sites, units, systems and assets. This activity aligns Asset Criticality Analysis Entities with the asset hierarchy to ensure appropriate inclusion and coverage.

Create Criticality Analysis Record

Persona: Analyst

The User creates or identifies an Asset Criticality Analysis record that is aligned with the analysis structure. Data is entered that describes the Asset Criticality Analysis and its scope. Team members involved in the Asset Criticality Analysis are identified. Relevant documents are attached to the Asset Criticality Analysis record.

Add System to Criticality Analysis

Persona: Analyst

The User creates or identifies an Asset Criticality Analysis System record that is aligned with the analysis structure. Data is entered that describes the Asset Criticality Analysis System.

Assess System Failure Risk

Persona: Analyst

The User enables a risk assessment on the failure of an Asset Criticality Analysis System with the team. The risk assessment is performed against the default risk matrix for the current Site Reference in GE Digital APM. The risk priority score is recorded against the Asset Criticality Analysis System.

Assign Assets to System

Persona: Analyst

The User assigns assets (Functional Locations and Equipment) to an Asset Criticality Analysis System. Assets can be assigned individually, in groups or by the Asset Group. When the asset is assigned to an Asset Criticality System, the asset inherits the risk assigned to the system. When the asset is not part of a group, a new asset group gets created when we assign the asset to the system, and both the system and asset get linked to the asset group.

Adjust Asset Failure Risk

Persona: Analyst

The User enables a risk assessment on the failure of an asset (Functional Locations and Equipment) assigned to an Asset Criticality Analysis System to identify assets that have a lower failure risk than the system. The risk assessment is performed against the default risk matrix for the current Site Reference in GE Digital APM. The risk priority score is recorded against the asset assigned to the Asset Criticality Analysis System.

Adjust System Risk

Persona: Analyst

The User will reassess and adjust the risk of the system. If the Equipment does not have any Risk assigned, the Risk is inherited from the system. If the risk assessment the equipment records is higher than that of the system, the system needs to be reassessed to include that higher risk.
