Generate Samples for a Non-Serialized Material

Before you begin

Access the receiver for which you want to generate samples. You can generate samples only for a material lot for which inspection tests are defined in Plant Applications Administrator (indicated by ).

Procedure

  1. In the left pane, under the receiver, select the material for which you want to generate samples.
    The Edit Traceability section appears.
  2. If you do not want to split the lot:
    1. Enter a number in the LOT NUMBERS column.
    2. Enter the quantity in the QTY column.
    3. If you want to generate samples for a periodic inspection, under the Periodic Inspection column, ensure to select the check box and enter the quantity.
      Note: Once you select a part and its quantity for periodic inspection, you cannot change the quantity or the inspection type for that lot.
  3. If you want to split the lot:
    1. In the LOT NUMBERS column, select .
      A new row appears for the sublot. Repeat this step depending on the number of sublots you want to create.
    2. For each sublot, enter a value in the LOT NUMBERS column. This value must be unique for the lot.
    3. For each sublot, enter the quantity in the QTY column.
    4. If you want to generate samples for a periodic inspection, under the Periodic Inspection column, ensure to select the check box and enter the quantity.
      Note: Once you select a part and its quantity for periodic inspection, you cannot change the quantity or the inspection type for that lot.
  4. As needed, enter values in the remaining fields.
  5. Select Save.
    Changes to the lot are saved.
    Note: You can continue to change the lots until the inspection begins. After you enter the inspection criteria, you cannot change the lots.
  6. Select Generate Samples.
    The Generate Samples button is enabled only if the sum of the quantities of all the sublots is equal to the total number of items in the lot.
    Samples are generated for the lot or each sublot and appear in the Inspection Criteria section. The size of the sample is calculated based on the size of the lot or sublot. The status of the receiver changes to awaiting inspection (indicated by ).

What to do next

Perform inspection on the samples. If needed, you can add more samples.
