Alarm conditions are based on alarm rules, which compare data to product-based specification limits in real time. They are used to set alarms on critical variables where acknowledgement of a violation is required. Alarms capture key events that require immediate action from an operator. Alarms capture causes or reasons based on the alarm location, and the corrective action that can be entered by an operator.
The Alarms application generates alarms in the following ways:
- Pop-up messages
- Audible alarms
- Color coding of cells in the displays
