Sydney, Australia -- 1 September, 2011 - GE (NYSE:GE) today announced that it has joined Virgin Australia and a consortium of other partners to research and develop commercial biofuel for the aviation industry. The consortium will focus on pyrolytic conversion of biomass from mallee eucalypt trees and intend to have a pilot biofuel production unit operating in Australia by 2012.

Output from the 10-megawatt AC project on 80 hectares of cleared land 50km southeast of Geraldton will contribute to offsetting the energy requirements of the Southern Seawater Desalination Plant.

WILMINGTON, N.C.---August 29, 2011---GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy (GEH) today announced it has been awarded a nearly $150 million integrated outage contract by Illinois-based Exelon Nuclear to help ensure the continued, safe performance of the utility's entire fleet of boiling water reactor (BWR) nuclear power plants in Illinois, Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
