GE（本社： 米国コネチカット州）は、本日、日本政府と民間企業16社の共同出資により新設される「株式会社産業革新機構」（以下、機構）に創立メンバーとして参画することを発表します。機構は、エネルギー、環境、ヘルスケア分野などにおいて、日本企業や研究機関が持つ、優れた先端技術のイノベーション促進を支援します。
GEは世界における困難な課題の解決に向けた技術イノベーションを実現するため、長年にわたり日本企業との協業、提携を重要戦略の一つとしてきました。2004年からは、「ジャパン・テクノロジー・イニシアチブ」（注1）を展開し、オープン･イノベーションの概念に基づく相互補完的なパートナーシップ構築に積極的に取り組んでいます。今回の産業革新機構への参画は、こうした戦略の一環をなすものです。

You don't expect flashbulbs popping and TV crews jostling for space in an aircraft engine service facility but that was the scene at GE Aviation's Nantgarw site in South Wales, UK with the visit of senior government Business Minister, Lord Mandelson.
Lord Mandelson was shown Nantgarw's engine test facility which is one of the most advanced aircraft engine testing facilities globally. The site is also the only aircraft engine shop in the world to offer a complete suite of service and testing facilities for the GE90 115B (an engine often used on 777s).
