无论从客户还是环境的角度出发，该拥有极高发电密度的新型燃气内燃机无疑都具有相当高的竞争力。凭借较低的燃料消耗，该燃气内燃机的高功率性能不仅能够降低产品生命周期的成本，同时还能降低温室气体的排放。在已投入商业运营的同等输出功率范围的燃气内燃机中，一台J920在运转时每年能够降低1500吨的二氧化碳排放量，这个数字约为800辆欧洲普通汽车的二氧化碳排放量。同时，较低的燃气消耗每年可节约超过价值217000欧元的燃料。
J920燃气内燃机特别适用于偏远、炎热及高海拔地区用作独立电源、用于热电联供以及维持电网稳定性方面的需求。从去年夏天起，该燃气内燃机的样机便已在专门建于GE颜巴赫奥地利工厂内的试验台上开始了试点运行，并取得了阶段性的成功。
