第一项计划针对美国男子赛艇和举重队优秀的奥林匹克运动员，及有希望获奖的运动员进行心脏临床研究；第二项计划将对美国举重、拳击、摔跤和美国女子国家足球队运动员的骨骼肌肉健康状况进行监测。这两项研究是都灵 2006 年冬季奥运会上研究项目的延续。

2008年5月28日，中国北京、比利时布鲁塞尔及美国华盛顿------国际奥委会全球合作伙伴GE公司今天宣布，捐赠两套先进的水处理系统，为中国河北省东光县及其周边村庄的6万多名居民提供清洁饮用水。该系统将提供去除氟化物的清洁饮用水保障当地居民的健康生活，并借此机会展示GE的水处理产品如何经济、高效的运用于中国农村社区。
作为奥运会水处理设备与服务的官方提供商，GE公司此次与中国水利部携手，于2008年夏季在东光县安装并启用一座功能全面的水处理系统。与此同时，GE提供的另一套移动水处理系统可以为邻近村庄提供净化水。这将是中国首次采用移动水处理系统来为那些市政集中水处理设施无法覆盖到的地区提供清洁用水。事实上，GE的移动水处理解决方案可以处理任何水源，有着非常广泛的应用，它将帮助中国在2015年之前实现向农村地区3亿多人口提供安全用水的目标。
