Power Trip
In what is billed as the longest world cruise ever, Royal Caribbean International’s Serenade of the Seas will visit all seven continents in a nine-month journey slated to start at the end of 2023. GE technology will power the 962-foot Serenade — specifically, a versatile and reliable gas turbine called the LM2500. Based on the CF6 jet engine, the turbines are used in varied applications such as mobile power and oil and gas. And they even power the Queen Mary 2 and 600 ships operated by 40 navies in the world.
