Taking Pride In His Work
As a senior director of communications at the GE Renewable Energy subsidiary LM Wind Power, Chandra Duraiswamy tells people around the world how his business helps push against climate change. But that’s not the only time he’s rallying people for positive change. He’s also developed popular “sensitization and awareness” sessions, where he discusses with colleagues everything from ancient Sanskrit texts to Lady Gaga, to forge allies for GE’s lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, asexual and intersex (LGBTQAI+) community. “I’m trying to spread my sphere of influence to make LGBTQAI+ people much safer across the entire organization and increase awareness of inclusion,” he says. Doing so isn’t just a question of social justice, he explains — it’s also crucial for GE’s bottom line. Duraiswamy has seen how people change when he puts across the business case for LGBTQAI+ inclusion. “They see the numbers and they’re like, ‘OK, what can we do? How can we take the next step?’” GE Reports has the story here.

Ultrasound Solution
Israel’s Pulsenmore developed an at-home fetal ultrasound system for expectant mothers, and the tech company has worked with that nation’s largest HMO to make these devices available to thousands of patients there. GE Healthcare recently announced an investment of up to $50 million in Pulsenmore to help it expand to other countries. GE Healthcare also plans to partner with Pulsenmore to distribute its existing products and develop new ones that take advantage of the growing demand for at-home care. “Healthcare providers today are predicting a significant shift of care services from traditional facilities to the home by 2025, which will require an increase in the level of quality and access,” said Roland Rott, CEO of GE Healthcare Ultrasound. “This is precisely why we are investing in Pulsenmore and innovative home-care ultrasound technology.” We have the story here.
