Recon Mission
MRI scans require patients to remain motionless inside a long, loud tube for some 15 minutes, which can feel like an eternity. But a GE HealthCare solution called AIR Recon DL is changing things. By using deep-learning technology to improve MRI image quality and enable reduced scan time, the award-winning technique is having a huge impact on patient experience. Find out more.

What’s New at RSNA
AIR Recon DL is only one of dozens of solutions GE HealthCare is highlighting in Chicago this week at RSNA 2022, the annual meeting of the Radiological Society of North America. From a new syringeless injector for better CT imaging to more personalized treatment through theranostics, the company is helping to improve patient care and bring about better outcomes in the future. See the full story.

It’s a Wrap
“We wanted to prioritize action over words in Sharm El-Sheikh,” Roger Martella, GE’s chief sustainability officer, said as the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27) drew to a close last week. GE came to Egypt with specific actions in mind to lower emissions today and develop breakthrough technologies for tomorrow — read about nine of them here.

A Picture Is Worth …
“Where words fail you, pictures and videos make a lot more sense,” says Jeremiah Smedra, an operations director at FieldCore, GE Gas Power’s field services unit. He’s talking about Live Outage, a safety and quality approach that workers employ to shorten downtime when servicing power plants. Read more about the touch-screen app, which was launched in the U.S. last year and is now rolling out in Europe and the Middle East.

Exploring Carbon Capture in Asia
GE has been working with entities in the U.S. and Europe on the tantalizing idea of capturing carbon emissions at power plants before they enter the atmosphere. The technology is known as carbon capture, utilization, and storage, or CCUS. Now the company is embarking on similar projects for new or existing plants in Asia. Read more here.

 — Quote of the Day —

“Lean is all about how you drive a culture where we systematically identify and implement continuous improvement every day. It’s a feedback loop that is constantly looking to deliver value for our customers while removing waste.”
