About SRS Category

A user can use the SRS Category feature to create a new SRS Category family with the required fields and datasheets that are not covered in the existing Baseline Categories.

About Administration Settings to Define Required Categories

A user can use the SRS Project administration settings to create a custom selection of required categories when an SRS Project is created. New SRS Projects will automatically contain all default SRS Categories.

Create an SRS Category

You can create an SRS Category only if you are a Super User or a user with administrative privileges.

Procedure

  1. On the left navigation menu, select Admin, and then select Configuration Manager.

    The Configuration Manager page appears.

  2. On the Configuration Manager page, select Family Management.

    The Family Management page appears, displaying the list of already existing families. The Home family is selected by default. In the left pane, below the Home tab, all of the families in the hierarchy appear in alphabetical order. Note that you cannot change the order of the families. You can expand a family hierarchy by selecting the button in the tab for that family.

  3. Select and enter SRS Template.

    The search results appear in the left pane.

  4. Select the SRS Template family, and then in the upper-left corner of the left pane, select
  5. As required, enter values in the available fields.
  6. Select .
  7. Select the Fields tab, and then in the upper-right corner of the Fields section, select .

    The New Field workspace appears.

  8. As required, enter values in the available fields, and then select Save.

    A confirmation message appears, indicating that the field has been created successfully and the new field appears in the Fields tab.

    You can repeat steps 7 – 8 to add more fields to the custom category.

  9. Select the Datasheets tab, and then select Manage Datasheets.

    The Information dialog box appears, indicating that the family does not have any datasheets and stating that you must create a new datasheet.

  10. Select OK.

    The Datasheet Builder page appears.

  11. In the upper-right corner of the page, select , and then select Custom datasheet.

    The Create New Datasheet window appears.

  12. Enter a caption, default ID, and description for the new datasheet, and then select OK.
    Note: If you want your datasheet to be the default datasheet for this family, select the Default Datasheet check box.

    The new datasheet appears.

  13. Select , and then select Custom Layout.

    The new section is added.

  14. Drag and drop the fields from the left panel that has to be added to the new custom datasheet, and then select Save.
  15. Select the Family Management page, and then select the State Configuration tab.
  16. Select the Use Parent's Configuration check box, select Enable State Functionality.

  17. In the left pane, select the Relationship tab.
  18. Select and enter Has SRS References.

    The search results appear in the left pane.

  19. Select the Has SRS References relationship, select the Relationship Definition tab, and then select .

    The Manage Relationship Definition window appears.

  20. Select SRS Template in the Predecessor(s) drop-down list box.
  21. Select the template category family in the Successor(s) drop-down list box. By default, the One To One cardinality is selected.
  22. Select Add, and select .

    The new relationship is added to the list of Has SRS References relationships.

  23. In the left pane, select and enter Has SRS Template Revisions.

    The search results appear in the left pane.

  24. Select the Has SRS Template Revisions relationship, select the Relationship Definition tab, and then select .

    The Manage Relationship Definition window appears.

  25. Select the template category family in the Predecessor(s) and Successor(s) drop-down list boxes.
  26. Select the One To Many cardinality, and then select Add.
  27. Select .

    The new relationship is added to the list of Has SRS Template Revisions relationships and the new custom category appears in the SRS Templates page.

Add an SRS Category to an SRS Project

Procedure

  1. Access the SRS Project for which you want to create an SRS Category.
  2. In the left pane, select .

    The Create new SRS category window appears, displaying a lst of SRS Categories in the left pane.

  3. Select the required SRS category from the list.

    In the Create new SRS category window, a list of SRS Templates associated with the SRS Category appears.

  4. From the list of templates, select the template that you want to use for the SRS Project, and then select OK.

    The SRS Category is added to the SRS Project.

Change the SRS Template that is Defined for an SRS Category in an SRS Project

Procedure

  1. Access the SRS Project for which you want to change the template used in an SRS Category.
  2. In the left pane, select the SRS Category in which the SRS Template needs to be changed.

    The SRS Category page appears.

  3. In the upper-right corner of the workspace, select Change Template.

    The Create new SRS category window appears, displaying a list of available SRS templates.

  4. Select the <SRS Template> radio button, and then select OK.

    The new SRS template is added to the list of SRS categories displayed in the left pane of the <SRS Project> page.

Update a Particular SRS Category in an SRS Project

Procedure

  1. Access the SRS Project for which you want to update the SRS Category.
  2. In the left pane, select the SRS Category that you want to update.

    The SRS Category page appears.

  3. Modify the values in the fields, as required.
  4. In the upper-right corner of the workspace, select .

    A confirmation message appears, indicating that the datasheet has been saved successfully.

Delete an SRS Category from an SRS Project

Procedure

  1. Access the SRS Project for which you want to create an SRS Category.
  2. In the left pane, select the SRS Category which you want to delete.

    The SRS Category page appears, displaying the datasheet for the SRS Category.

  3. In the upper-right corner of the datasheet, select , and then select Delete.
    Note: You can delete an SRS Category only if the SRS Project is in the In Progress state.

    The Confirm Delete dialog box appears, asking you to confirm that you want to delete the selected catergory.

  4. Select Yes.

    The SRS Category is deleted from the SRS Project.
