Ricardo is a Managing Director of Investing. Based in Menlo Park, CA, he joined the team in 2007.
With a focus on energy and natural resources at GE Ventures, his team leverages breakthrough technologies, innovative business models, capital, and the GE platform. One of the most active investors in energy technology markets, Ricardo and his team seek investment opportunities across the energy value chain, including renewables, power infrastructure, and oil & gas technologies.
As GE Capital’s first venture capital employee on the West Coast, he elevated GE’s presence by developing a strong network with leading investment partners and industrial players. He led Energy Technology Ventures, a $300 million JV between GE, ConocoPhillips, and NRG.
Ricardo previously held senior positions in the Venture Capital Group at Chevron Technology Ventures; the Investment Banking Technology Group at Goldman Sachs & Co, where he won the Goldman Sachs Fellowship Award; and the CNA Corporation.
Ricardo holds an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management. He earned bachelor’s, master’s, and doctorate degrees in Engineering from the University of Illinois. The National Science Foundation sponsored his doctorate research.
He is a mentor and advisor to VC-backed startup companies in Silicon Valley, a frequent guest speaker for professional organizations in the US, Europe, and Latin America, and author of dozens of technical papers published in international journals and presented at conferences. Ricardo holds board seats at Stem, BiSN, Motive, and Foro.
His hobbies include travel, sports, and wine tasting.
