Hasan Rashid
BIOGRAPHY

Hasan is Associate General Counsel – Licensing at GE.  He is based in Boston, MA and joined the team in 2020.

Hasan advises on a variety of complex intellectual property and legal matters that arise in GE’s sophisticated licensing business.  For example, his team handles patent portfolio development, acquisition, and licensing of intellectual property, including standard-essential patents.  In this regard, he advises on licensing on fair, reasonable, and non-discriminatory (FRAND) terms, including in the context of joint licensing programs.

Prior to joining GE, Hasan served as the top legal adviser to an independent licensing administrator, HEVC Advance.  Joining this program in its infancy, he counseled the organization from inception on a wide range of global legal issues.  Given the program’s focus on the joint licensing of standard-essential patents, these issues primarily focused on patent and antitrust laws and their interplay in the global landscape of FRAND licensing and litigation.  Prior to HEVC Advance, Hasan practiced at McDermott, Will & Emery.  There, he advised clients on a wide range of complex intellectual property matters.  This included patent portfolio prosecution and development as well as complex IP litigation, including significant trial court experience throughout the United States.

Hasan earned his J.D. from Boston University School of Law.  He earned his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Florida.  He lives in the greater Boston area with his wife and two children.
