People have been using ceramics to store food, drink tea, and tile their homes for millennia. But GE engineers recently upped the ante and started putting high-grade ceramics inside jet engines.

2013年6月2日 --中国广州 -- 中国南方航空公司于2013年5月31日在美国西雅图接收了其首架以GEnx发动机为动力的波音787梦想飞机。该架飞机于6月2日抵达中国广州。这是南航今年即将接收的8架B787飞机中的第一架。南航共订购了10架B787梦想飞机并全部选用了GEnx-1B发动机为该机队提供动力。
南航还为该机队与GE航空集团签订了OnPointSM 长期服务方案。GE将为该机队提供维修、修理及大修服务。

In the 1960s, the Soviet airline Aeroflot was shopping for a tough new commuter plane that could service far flung airports in the frozen Taiga as well as the sun-baked Kazakh desert. With few options on the market, Aeroflot bosses commissioned Czech aviation engineers, long regarded among the best in the business, to build an aircraft that met their needs and an engine to go with it. The plane, the L-410 Turbolet, and the engine have been in production since, flying passengers and cargo across Europe, Africa, Asia and South America.
Tom Brisken smiles when he sees his jet engine roar down the runway, but it is the smile of a long-distance runner at the end of a marathon. Brisken spent the last decade developing GE’s most advanced large jet engine, the GEnx, as the general manager in charge of large aircraft customer strategies at GE Aviation, and the path to technological breakthrough wasn’t always clear. “There for a while we were biting our nails,” he says.
CFM国际公司今天宣布，公司已完成先进的LEAP-1B发动机的设计定型，为2014年中进行首台全尺寸发动机测试铺平了道路。LEAP-1B是波音737 MAX飞机的唯一动力装置。

LEAP-1A / LEAP-1C发动机已于2012年6月完成了设计定型。首台全尺寸LEAP发动机LEAP-1A目前正在制造过程中，计划在今年秋季开始进行地面测试。
Jet engine maker CFM International, a joint venture between GE Aviation and France’s Snecma, completed a design freeze for its latest jet engine that includes for the first time components made from advanced ceramic composites and parts manufactured using 3-D printers. “All of our testing and design work leading to this moment demonstrates that we are on track to meet all of our program commitments,” said Gareth Richards, LEAP program manager at GE Aviation.
