Marafiq and GE Support Tanweer to Produce More Sustainable Electricity in Oman with Diesel-to-Gas Switching through a New ‘Power Plant on Wheels’

  • GE Gas Power to supply Marafiq with four TM2500 aeroderivative gas turbines and subsequently build, own and operate a power plant for Tanweer in the Special Economic Zone at Duqm in Oman.
  • The TM2500 units will run on natural gas and replace diesel generators, contributing to fewer greenhouse gas emissions per megawatt hour of power generation.  
  • The units are expected to be commissioned in five months, providing fast, reliable power.
