脳内のベータアミロイド斑検出に用いる「11C-PIB」の技術供与で合意

徳洲会グループの医療法人社団愛心会（理事長：徳田哲、以下徳洲会）とGEヘルスケアグループの英国法人であるGE Healthcare Limited（会長：デビッド・ジョン・ジーンズ、以下GE Healthcare）は11月21日（金）、放射性同位元素カーボン11（11C）によって標識された画像診断用薬剤「ピッツバーグ・コンパウンド・ビー」（PIB）の技術を、GE Healthcareが徳洲会に使用許諾することで合意しました。
当該の11C-PIBは、陽電子断層撮影装置（PET）検査用に米ピッツバーグ大学で開発され、2003年にGE Healthcareが同大学から全世界における独占的権利を取得した画像診断用薬剤です。同薬剤を体内に投与すると、アルツハイマー病や他の認知症患者で見られる老人斑の主成分である不溶性β（ベータ）アミロイド蛋白質に結合するため、その脳内蓄積部位を画像化しPET検査で検出することができます。
