Sydney -- Australia, 21 August 2012 -- In collaboration with five venture capital partners, GE today pledged $10 million to find, fund and bring to market breakthrough ideas for reducing our carbon footprint from Australia & New Zealand.
GE's first ever local ecomagination Challenge is an open innovation competition which calls on businesses, entrepreneurs, innovators and students to submit real ideas for low carbon solutions and technologies.

Auckland, New Zealand: New research into the mid-market business sector has revealed that while it accounted for fewer than 5% of all NZ enterprise in 2011, it produced almost a third of all business revenue and one in three full-time equivalent jobs.
GE announced second-quarter 2012 Operating Earnings of $4.0 billion, or $0.38 per share, up 7% and 12% respectively from the second-quarter of 2011.

SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA -- Friday, 6 July, 2012 - Virgin Australia has signed an order for 23 Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft powered by LEAP-1B engines, which are manufactured by CFM International, a 50/50 joint venture between GE and Snecma (Safran group).
Virgin Australia has been a CFM customer since its official launch in August 2000 and currently operates a fleet of 68 CFM56-7B and -7BE powered Next Generation 737-700s and 737-800s.

First CFM-powered A320 aircraft in Qantas Group fleet
Extends 20-year relationship with CFM, a 50/50 joint venture between GE and Snecma
Sydney, Australia -- 19 April 2012: The Qantas Group today announced it has signed a US$2.0 billion order (including spare engines) for advanced LEAP-1A engines to power 78 Airbus A320neo aircraft currently on order.
The LEAP engine, developed by CFM International (a 50/50 joint venture between GE and Snecma (Safran group), is one of the world's most advanced aircraft engines, delivering:
Sydney has become the first city in Australia to roll-out new energy-efficient LED street and park lights
A joint venture of GE and UGL Limited (UGL), selected by tender, has begun installing the first batch of new LED lights on George Street, in front of Sydney Town Hall as part of a $7million three year project.
Lord Mayor Clover Moore said the rollout of LED lights, following a successful 18 month trial in Alexandria Park, Kings Cross, Martin Place and Circular Quay, would reduce emissions and halve the energy use.
