Introducing the CCITNZ
The Corporate Coalition for Innovation and Technology toward Net Zero is a new alliance between GE and five other companies whose goal is to accelerate breakthrough technologies and innovations to address climate change. Chief Sustainability Officer Roger Martella announced the initiative at the COP27 conference in Egypt. Read about it here.

Working to Solve the Energy Trilemma
A major theme at COP27 this year is how to provide people in developing nations with access to sustainable, reliable, and affordable energy. Susan Flanagan, president and CEO of GE Energy Financial Services, writes on the Atlantic Council’s Global Energy Center website, of which GE is a presenting partner, that it will require financial support from more developed economies. Read her article.

We’ll Always Have Parris
If GE has an MVP of 2022, it may well be Colin Parris, GE Digital’s chief technology officer. Elected to the National Academy of Engineers in February, Parris will now be the recipient of the Black Engineer of the Year Award. His contributions have been “invaluable to GE,” said CEO Larry Culp. See the news here.

A Veterans Day Tail
Before her time at GE Aerospace, Marissa Helton served three tours in the U.S. Navy. The trauma of war stayed with her upon her return home. But a yellow Lab named Andy, who goes to the office with her every day, has changed things. Read their moving story here.

Bonus: In another Veterans Day story from the GE Aerospace newsroom, veteran Corey Sheeron talks about his path from the Navy to the XA100 jet engine support team. “We really are inventing the future of flight with the XA100 program,” he says.

 — Quote of the Day —

“[The CCITNZ] is a transformation in elevating the role of innovation and technology as the key tool in the toolbox to take action on climate change, both in the near term with solutions we have today and investing in the breakthrough technologies for tomorrow.”
— Roger Martella, vice president and chief sustainability officer, GE
