2008년 7월 22일 뉴욕, 아랍에미리트연합 아부 다비- GE와 무바달라 디벨럽먼트사(Mubadala Development Company: 이하 무바달라, 본사: 아랍에미리트연합 아부다비) 는 오늘, 기업금융, 청정 에너지 연구개발, 항공, 산업 및 기업교육훈련 등 광범위한 분야를 포괄하는 글로벌 파트너십에 대한 기본 협정 체결을 발표했다. 중동과 전세계의 고성장 기회에 대한 양사의 공유된 시각과 기존의 굳건한 관계에 기초하여 체결된 이번 파트너십에 따라 양사는 신설 합작사업과 투자펀드에 공동으로 자본을 투자하게 된다.
또한, 무바달라는 GE의 장기 주주가 될 계획을 갖고 있어, 조건이 맞는다면 공개시장에서 지분 매입을 통해 GE의 10대 기관투자자가 될 것으로 예상된다.
