GE Jet Engine Selected for Japan Defense Agency Cargo Aircraft

August 12, 2003

August 12, 2003 -- EVENDALE, Ohio-The Japan Defense Agency (JDA) selected GE Aircraft Engines' (GEAE) CF6-80C2 engine for its C-X program, Japan's next-generation cargo military aircraft.
The JDA will take delivery of the first engine in 2006. The potential value of the engine contract for GEAE is valued at approximately $1 billion over the estimated 30-year life of the program.
The C-X, currently in development, will replace the C-1 cargo aircraft. The JDA will begin operating the C-X in 2011.

GE90-115B Receives FAA Certification

July 30, 2003 -- EVENDALE, Ohio--The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has certified the GE90-115B, the world's most powerful jet engine, at an unprecedented 115,000 pounds of thrust. The certification marks the end of a 20-month certification program for the engine, which is scheduled to enter airline service in n 2004.

GE Awarded $510 Million Contract from the U.S. Navy

July 21, 2003 -- LYNN, Massachusetts--GE Aircraft Engines (GEAE) has been awarded a $510 million performance-based logistics (PBL) contract by the U.S. Navy.
The contract covers repair and overhaul of 36 components for F404-400/-402 rotor and stator assemblies, plus designated controls and accessories. The PBL contract will provide the fleet with availability of major sub-assemblies at a level significantly higher than that offered by traditional support processes.

Emirates Airlines Fleet Expansion Provides $1 Billion

June 16, 2003 -- PARIS - One of the world's fastest growing airlines, Emirates Airlines is leasing 26 new Boeing 777-300ER aircraft powered by GE Aircraft Engines' GE90 engines.
The fleet expansion provides GEAE with a new order for 15 GE90 engines, as well as a 12-year engine Maintenance Cost Per Hoursm (MCPHsm) contract with Emirates for the new engine fleet. Combined, the engine sales and service agreement are valued at more than $1 billion to GEAE.

GE F414 Engine Deployed On F/A-18E/F; Potential Applications Growing

June 16, 2003 -- LE BOURGET - June 16, 2003 - The first operational F/A-18E/F Super Hornet strike fighters powered by GE's F414 engines saw combat action in the Iraqi conflict, less than a year after deployment last July onboard the USS Abraham Lincoln.
The first combat strike of a Super Hornet preceded the war during Operation Southern Watch, southeast of Baghdad. The engines performed flawlessly during air-to-air and air-to-ground missions in all weather conditions.
