2011년 2월 21일, 서울 - GE헬스케어 코리아는 초음파 기술을 이용한 포켓 크기의 의료영상기기 브이스캔(Vscan)을 국내 출시한다고 오늘 밝혔다.
의료진이 진료현장에서 즉각 환자 몸 속을 보면서 진단할 수 있도록 초음파 기술을 이용해 개발된 브이스캔은 휴대가 가능하여 시간과 장소에 구애 받지 않고 보다 빠르고 정확하게 진료할 수 있다.
GE헬스케어 코리아의 로랭 로티발(Laurent Rotival) 사장은, "이번에 출시된 브이스캔은 의료 비용 절감, 의료 서비스의 접근성 증대, 의료 품질 향상에 중점을 둔 '헬씨메지네이션' 이니셔티브 인증 제품으로, 이미 미국, 캐나다, 일본, 유럽, 인도 등에서 상용화된 제품" 이라며, "한국에서 브이스캔은 청진기와 함께 1차 진료 환경에 꼭 필요한 의료영상기기로서 보다 많은 사람들이 보다 나은 의료서비스를 받는데 크게 기여할 것"이라고 말했다.
브이스캔은 약 390그램으로 가볍고 스마트폰 만한 크기로 휴대가 가능해 전문 의료장비가 제대로 갖추어지지 않은 응급현장, 의료 취약지역 등에서 활용도가 높을 것으로 기대된다.

Kuwait City, Kuwait; General Electric company (GE) sponsored the beach cleaning activity organized by 'Keeping Kuwait Clean,' a non-governmental organization working towards keeping beaches and parks in the city clean through volunteering.
More than 70 volunteers took part in the clean up the beach initiative including 50 employees and their family members of GE in Kuwait. They took part in cleaning the Messilla beach in Kuwait, with the volunteers clearing as much as 5.0 Cubic meters of trash each sweep and giving the area an aesthetic facelift.
