Engineers at GE Appliances have recently demonstrated a prototype of a magnetic refrigerator and announced their intention to bring it to market by the end of the decade. This technology represents a step-change in the efficiency of refrigerator appliances and will significantly reduce electricity demand when it is widely adopted. These refrigerators also completely avoid using ozone-depleting chemicals like halocarbons that also contribute to climate change. The key component of magnetic refrigerators is a special type of alloy known as a magnetocaloric material.

SHANNON, Ireland, March 11, 2014 -- GE Capital Aviation Services Limited (GECAS), the commercial aircraft leasing and financing arm of GE, today announced it completed a purchase-and-leaseback transaction with Finnair for two Airbus A330-300 aircraft.

The flag carrier of Finland, Finnair is one of the oldest continually-operating airlines in the world with a fleet of nearly 60 aircraft operating to more than 70 destinations.
