November 28, 2005 -- EVENDALE, OH - Japan Airlines (JAL) has selected the GEnx engine to power its 30 firm, 20 option Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft.
The value of the firm engine order is more than $700 million (USD). Engine deliveries begin in 2008.
"The selection completes an extensive two-year technical evaluation by JAL, and we are very honored that the GEnx engine has been chosen," said Tom Brisken, general manager of the GEnx project.

Expansion of over US$500 million
Doha, QATAR, November 28, 2005: GE Energy recently signed a contract with the Qatar Electricity & Water Company (QEWC) for the expansion of the Ras Abu Fontas B-2 power plant in the State of Qatar. This important venture for over US$500 million, to be developed by a consortium including GE and FISIA Italimpianti., is due for completion in 2007 and will help Qatar support future demands for power and water. The power plant will produce 597 megawatts of power and 30 million gallons of desalinated water per day.

November 21, 2005 -- DUBAI, U.A.E - Comlux, the VIP charter operator based in Zurich; Switzerland, has selected the CFM56-5B engine to power three firm, three option Airbus A318 Elite Corporate Jets. The firm engine order is valued at approximately $36 million at list price.
