KUALA LUMPUR -- April 28, 2014 -- AirAsia X, the long haul, low fare airline affiliate of the AirAsia Group and GE Aviation have signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the selection of CF6-80E1 engines to power AirAsia X's 25 new firm Airbus A330-300 aircraft, with options for an additional three A330 aircraft. These engines will be covered by a multi-year OnPointSM solution service agreement for engine maintenance, repair and overhaul.
GE announced first-quarter 2014 operating earnings of $3.3 billion, with operating earnings per share of $0.33, down 15% from the first quarter of 2013. Excluding the 2013 NBCUniversal impact and restructuring and other charges, operating EPS was up 9% from the year-ago period.

Airline becomes the first Malaysian operator to fly new efficient flight paths
Kent, WA USA / Kuala Lumpur -- December 16, 2013 -- AirAsia received approval to fly Required Navigation Performance (RNP) flight paths in Malaysia, with support from GE Aviation. The Malaysia Department of Civil Aviation Authority (DCA), the regulator and air navigation service provider, granted the nation's first RNP operations approval November 28th following a successful RNP flight validation conducted at Penang October 18th.
