Congratulations to GE HealthCare!
Fourteen months after GE announced its history-making plan to form three independent companies, this week GE HealthCare became the first to venture forth on its own. “Today is an incredibly exciting day for GE HealthCare as we become an independent company and start a new chapter as a standalone global leader in Precision Care,” said Peter Arduini, president and CEO of the new entity, which is now trading on Nasdaq under the ticker symbol GEHC. And Then There Were Two
With one year to go before they stand on their own, GE Aerospace and GE Vernova — GE’s portfolio of energy businesses — are well aware of the urgency of their missions as they redouble their efforts as global leaders in defining the future of flight and advancing the energy transition. Every two seconds, an aircraft powered by GE technology takes off somewhere in the world, while technology from GE’s portfolio of energy businesses helps generate about 30% of the world’s electricity. As the world electrifies and air travel expands, there is important work ahead. Read about their plans here.

A Positive Reaction
The Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory made headlines in December with its announcement that it had carried out the first nuclear fusion experiment to achieve a net energy gain. To learn more about this game-changing technology and where it may be headed, GE Reports spoke with Jim Bray, a chief scientist in the GE Research electrical power group. “I can’t tell you exactly when, but … it will happen,” Bray said. Taking Off for the Future
Achieving the aviation industry’s goal of net zero carbon emissions by 2050 is “going to be challenging and it’s going to take all of us advocating for our particular areas,” said Joseph Connolly, an engineer at NASA’s Glenn Research Center, speaking at the Sustainable Aviation Futures Congress North America conference last month in San Francisco. Sustainable aviation fuel and hybrid electric propulsion are two major areas GE Aerospace is committed to driving forward as it collaborates with other key players in the industry. Find out more.
