Smart way to raise over £4k for Help for Heroes

Fundraising effort by The Money Shop, GE Capital and British Car Auctions

6 December 2012: Buyers at BCA Blackbushe dug deep and raised £4,171 for charity when two Smart cars were auctioned by The Money Shop, BCA and GE Capital on 14th November. The money raised from the sale of the cars will be donated to Help for Heroes.

The vehicles were sold by Nottingham-based The Money Shop, a customer of GE Capital's Fleet Services division, and sold at British Car Auctions' Blackbushe centre in Surrey. The costs of preparation and sale were met by GE and BCA.

Adele Sharp, Facilities Manager at The Money Shop, said: "These two Smart cars were due for defleeting and, when we were asked whether we could aid Help for Heroes by donating the proceeds of the sale, were we pleased to be able to help. It is a very worthy cause."

GE Capital's UK Remarketing Leader, Mark Green commented "We were delighted to partner The Money Shop and BCA to stage this charity sale to fundraise for Help for Heroes."

Phil Kelly, BCA UK Corporate Account Manager added: "There was plenty of bidding from our customers on these two Smart cars and we were very pleased to raise over £4,000 to support the great work carried out by Help for Heroes."

Help for Heroes provides direct, practical support to wounded, injured and sick service personnel, veterans, and their families. This is provided through grants to individuals and other service charities, capital build projects and support provided at four Recovery Centres across the UK.
