- Contractual Service Agreement (CSA) with Huaneng Jinling Power Thermal Generation Co., Ltd to Support Plant's Long-Term Performance
- Agreement Highlights GE's Commitment to Help China Meet Soaring Power Needs
- GE CSAs Tap Power of the Industrial Internet to Make Assets Smarter
NANJING, CHINA---January 3, 2013---Reflecting its commitment to better serve the lifecycle power generation needs of its customers worldwide, GE (NYSE: GE) today announced it has signed a long-term Contractual Service Agreement (CSA) with Huaneng Jinling Power Thermal Generation Co., Ltd. This agreement will support a new natural gas-fired combined cycle power plant at Jinling, Nanjing, located in Jiangsu Province, China.
Two GE 186-megawatt (MW) 9E gas turbines are powering the new facility that will help meet China's expanding power demands with cleaner-burning natural gas.
"The demand for electricity in this region of China is rising quickly making it critical for Huaneng Power's new facility to be consistently available to the grid," said Yang Dan, Asia general manager of GE's Power Generation Services business. "This agreement will provide the plant with access to local GE service resources, and expertise, to help ensure its long-term reliability."
Under the CSA, GE will support its equipment for nine to 12 years. GE CSAs are structured to provide predictable maintenance costs while ensuring high availability and a steady flow of revenue from plant operations. This agreement will better position the new combined cycle plant to benefit from the long-term, high performance of GE's latest technology and global experience. To date, GE has long-term agreements in place at more than 700 sites worldwide.
The GE 9E units and associated equipment were supplied in July 2012 and are scheduled to start commercial operation in early 2013.
Huaneng Power International Inc., Jiangsu Guoxin Asset Management Group Company Ltd. and Nanjing Municipal Investment Corporation own the new facility, which is operated by Huaneng Nanjing Jinling Power Generation Co., Ltd.
The new facility is located next to Huaneng Power's existing, 780-MW combined cycle power plant, which features two GE 9FA gas turbine units covered under a separate CSA agreement.
GE CSAs deliver value to customers by tapping into the power of the Industrial Internet, connecting minds and machines to make customer assets smarter. Relying on more than 93 million hours of real-world operating data, GE can tailor CSA solutions that help drive enhanced efficiency and productivity from existing power generation assets.
The 9E gas turbine is GE's robust and proven 50 Hz workhorse. With more than 600 units shipped, it has accumulated more than 23 million hours of utility and industrial service, often in arduous climates ranging from desert heat and tropical humidity to arctic cold. The 9E gas turbine systems also are designed for reliable operation and reduced maintenance at a competitively low-installed cost.
The fuel-flexible 9E gas turbine accommodates a wide range of fuels including natural gas, light and heavy distillate oil, naphtha, crude, residual oil, blast furnace gas (BFG), syngas and biofuels.
