Denver, Colorado - 28 June 2017 - GE Renewable Energy announced today it has won a contract to conduct the major overhaul and upgrade of Little Long’s units 1 & 2 in Ontario (Canada) for Ontario Power Generation. This comprehensive overhaul includes the replacement of the units’ switchgears, electrical components, as well as the supply and installation of a new head gate for unit 1.

This contract is GE Renewable Energy’s second order from Ontario Power Generation for Little Long. New runners for unit 1 and 2 had already been provided under a separate agreement. The runner replacements combined with this added mechanical overhaul are expected to extend the two retrofitted units’ power output capacity by almost 10%.

Yves Rannou, President & CEO of GE’s Hydro Solutions said “Power plants overhauls are an investment for the future and for the nations’ energy transition. We are glad that Ontario Power Generation renewed their confidence in us. A project such as Little Long mirrors the commitment of our Services team to our customers in North America and Canada specifically.”

Little Long is a 205 MW plant located in Ontario, Canada. It is equipped with two 65 MW units and one 75 MW unit. The station is part of the Lower Mattagami Hydroelectric Complex operated by Ontario Power Generation, with a total output capacity of 924 MW.
