Dubai, December 6, 2003: -- GE Aircraft Engines is showcasing its latest range of state-of-the-art commercial and military engines designed to serve the region's aviation sector at Dubai 2003, the 8th International Aerospace Exhibition running from December 7-11. GE's advanced engine technology on exhibit includes the world's most powerful jet engine, the GE90-115B.
The GE90-115B, the powerplant for the Boeing 777-300ER and 777-200LR aircraft, was chosen earlier this year by Emirates to power its new fleet of Boeing 777-300ER widebody aircraft on lease. In addition to the UAE's national airline, GE also provides GE90 engines to a number of regional carriers including Kuwait Airways and PIA. The GE90-115B engine holds the world's thrust record for a jet engine, certified at an unprecedented 127,900 pounds of thrust and will enter service in 2004 as the sole engine source for the long-range Boeing 777s.
GE Aircraft Engines will also feature the new CF34-8 engine, which powers 70-passenger regional jets produced by Bombardier and EMBRAER. GE is the world's leading producer of regional jet engines, which represents the fastest-growing commercial engine market segment.
Also featured at the GEAE exhibit is the CT7/T700 turboshaft engine, which powers more commercial and military helicopters than any turboshaft engine in the world.
Commenting on GE's participation in the biennial aerospace exhibition in Dubai, Muhammad Al-Lamadani, General Manager for the Middle East, Eastern Europe and Central Asia, GE Aircraft Engines said: "Our participation in the Dubai Airshow is vital in emphasising our position as a world-leading manufacturer of engines for the aviation industry. It provides an ideal platform to showcase our latest aerospace innovations, including new products and services that add value to our customers' needs. In addition, it represents a unique opportunity to interact and strengthen our relationships with key customers in the region."
The GE Aircraft Engines portfolio of jet engines for commercial and military aircraft can be seen on the company stand (East Hall - Stand 520) at the exhibition in the Airport Expo from December 7-11, 2003.
