Kuwait, September 19, 2002 ---- GE Aircraft Engines has won a contract to supply GE T700-701C helicopter engines to the Government of Kuwait. The new engines will power the government's new fleet of 16 Boeing AH-64D Apache Longbow attack helicopters.
The contract, valued at US$30 million, allows for the supply of 32 engines to be installed on the new fleet of helicopters, as well as four spares. The T700-701C powers the latest AH-64A/D Apaches and H-60 Black Hawk variants.
"We are delighted that Kuwait has selected GE engines for their new Apache helicopters," said Russ Sparks, Vice President and General Manager of GE Aircraft Engines-Military Engines Operations. "This order reaffirms the T700 as the leading engine of choice for Apache operators."
With the signing of the deal, GE Aircraft engines has to date supplied more than 11,000 T700/CT7 turboshaft and turboprop engines worldwide, the most widely used engines in their class.
Jim Shuppert, Regional Manager, GE Aircraft Engines said, "The T700-701C engine's proven performance and experience, high reliability and low maintenance costs makes it the number one choice of military organisations around the world - not only do they seek an excellent product, but also efficient ongoing after-sales support."
