Restoring Archives using Volume Shadow Copy Service on Windows Server 2008 or Windows Server 2008 R2

Note: To access backup and recovery tools for Windows Server 2008, you must install backup and recovery tools first. Procedure

  1. Click Start, point to All Programs > Administrative Tools, and then click Windows Server Backup.
    The Windows Server Backup Wizard appears.
  2. In the Actions pane, click Restore.
    The Recovery Wizard appears.
  3. Select the appropriate option that contains the backup and then click Next.
    The Select Backup Date screen appears.
  4. Select the date and time of backup you want to restore from and then click Next.
    The Select Recovery Type screen appears.
  5. Expand the folder tree, select the items that you want to restore, and then click Next.
    The Specify Recovery Options screen appears.
  6. Select the appropriate storage option and then click Next.
    The Confirmation screen appears.
  7. Click Recover.
    The Recover Progress screen appears.
  8. When the recovery process completes, click Close.

What to do next

After restoring the archives files (that is, .bkf or .vhd into .iha) using the Windows Restore wizard is complete, you must restore the archives (.iha) into Historian.
