GE Vernova’s Nuclear Fuel business receives regulatory approval to manufacture higher enrichment fuel

WILMINGTON, North Carolina: February 14, 2024 — GE Vernova’s Nuclear Fuel business, Global Nuclear Fuel (GNF), today announced that it has received approval from the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) to manufacture, ship and analyze the performance of nuclear fuel with Uranium-235 enrichments of up to 8 weight percent.

SaskPower and GE Hitachi sign agreement to advance small modular reactor development

Representatives from SaskPower and GE Vernova’s Nuclear business, GE Hitachi (GEH), met in Regina to sign an important agreement to advance small modular reactor (SMR) development in Saskatchewan.

The agreement will enable SaskPower and GEH to collaborate on project planning and facilitate the sharing of expertise related to the design, fuel sourcing and fabrication for the BWRX-300 small modular reactor. It will also support workforce and supply chain planning needed for a Saskatchewan-based SMR deployment.

WILMINGTON, North Carolina: January 25, 2024 — GE Vernova’s Nuclear business, GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy (GEH), today welcomed confirmation it has been awarded a £33.6 million UK Future Nuclear Enabling Fund (FNEF) grant from the Department for Energy Security & Net Zero (DESNZ). The UK Government has ambitions for 24 GW of nuclear by 2050 to help in providing energy security for the UK and for meeting net zero.

ENEC and GE Hitachi sign MoU for potential investment and deployment of Small Modular Technology as part of ENEC ADVANCE Program

The Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy (GE Hitachi). The MoU will identify opportunities for future investment in Small Modular Reactor (SMR) technology development to further consolidate the UAE’s position as a pioneering leader in nuclear innovation, and nuclear energy technology deployment globally.

Province of Ontario to deploy additional GE Hitachi BWRX-300 Small Modular Reactors

WILMINGTON, North Carolina—July 7, 2023—The Province of Ontario announced today that it is working with Ontario Power Generation (OPG) to begin planning and licensing for the deployment of three additional GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy (GEH) BWRX-300 small modular reactors (SMRs) at the Darlington New Nuclear Project site. A total of four BWRX-300 SMRs are now planned for deployment at the site east of Toronto.
