CHALFONT ST GILES, UK, 27 AUGUST 2009 - GE Healthcare, a unit of General Electric Company (NYSE: GE), today announced that Stephen Minger, Ph.D, previously Senior Lecturer and Director of King's College London's Stem Cell Biology Laboratory, will join GE Healthcare's Life Sciences business as head of Research and Development for Cell Technologies on September 1st 2009.
GE announced second-quarter 2009 earnings from continuing operations (attributable to GE) of $2.9 billion, or $.26 per share attributable to common shareowners, down 47% from second quarter 2008.

A milestone in a strategically important new water supply that will help alleviate a severe water shortage in Jordan's capital and surrounding area has been reached with funding of construction of a pipeline project by GAMA Energy A.S., a joint venture between GAMA Holding A.S. and GE (NYSE:GE) unit GE Energy Financial Services. The US$1 billion Disi Water Conveyance Project includes construction of a 325-kilometer pipeline that will pump water from the Disi aquifer in Mudawarra to Jordan's most populous city, the capital of Amman.

RIYADH, SAUDI ARABIA -- June 22, 2009 -- Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) announced that it signed a 12-year direct loan agreement for SR4.1 billion ($1.1 billion) to finance the supply and installation of GE equipment for expanding the Qurayyah and Faras power plants in the Eastern Province and Power Plant No. 8 in Riyadh, which will add 2,900 megawatts of power generation capacity. The direct loan will be disbursed and managed through the funding bank, Calyon New York.
