穿过一道白色"安全门"，建筑设计师跨入一个崭新的体育场。高高的塑料板材顶棚为他遮阳挡雨，浅绿色的半透明材质精致中透出坚韧；远端的跑道上静静伫立着一组巨型灯具，等待夜幕降临时大显身手。紧挨着体育场是一组灵活配置的移动式发电机组，这个"车轮上的电厂"可以为整个场馆提供电力。
这是一个虚拟的旅程。在2月中旬举办的"2004北京国际体育基础设施和场馆技术展览会"上，通用电气的展台给来访者栩栩如生的"科技奥运"初体验。配合2005-2012年的全球奥运合作伙伴身份，GE统领旗下各个业务集团，组建了一支"梦之队"，准备在奥运场馆和基础设施建设中一展拳脚，此次展会则提供了一个绝佳的平台。
参加展会的GE业务集团有：能源集团、消费与工业产品集团、高新材料集团和基础设施集团。参展的产品和服务涉及奥运场馆建设的各个领域：体育场馆照明设施；能够把污水变成景观用水的水处理设备；保护关键电源的先进解决方案；应用于建筑的高性能Lexan塑料板材和密封胶产品；提供临时能源解决方案的移动式燃气轮机；以及革命性的Entry Scan通过式爆炸物/毒品探测仪。
2004年4月9日，中国南方航空公司选择了CFM56-5B发动机用于其21架空客A320系列飞机。此次订单包括15架A320和6架A319飞机，其发动机总价值超过了2.5亿美元。
中国南方航空公司是中国最大的航空公司之一，该公司有660多条国内和国际运营航线，每周飞行班次达3,200多个。南航将于今年底接收其首架装CFM56发动机的A320飞机，飞机交付工作将延续至2007年。
CFM56 发动机由世界领先的民用飞机发动机制造商CFM国际公司（法国SNECMA发动机公司与美国通用电气公司的平股合资公司) 制造。目前全球有14,100多台CFM56发动机在运营。其中，中国的15家航空公司在其空客A320和A340机队中使用着800多台CFM56发动机。

美国，2004年4月8日---通用电气公司（GE）今天宣布成功完成收购Amersham公司（音译：安玛西亚公司）所有股票，从而完成了对这家全球领先的造影剂和生命科学公司的收购。被收购的安玛西亚公司将与全球领先的医疗影像、服务和信息技术公司------GE医疗系统集团合并，成为GE医疗集团。新的GE医疗集团年销售额为140亿美元，并预计2005年将达到年销售额160亿美元。
