EVENDALE, Ohio--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The United States Air Force (USAF) has selected GE Aviation for negotiations to mature a suite of technologies to include variable cycle technology for the Adaptive Engine Technology Development (AETD) program. AETD will enable GE to address the USAF's propulsion needs for improved fuel burn to provide combat aircraft in the beyond-2020 timeframe with significantly enhanced range, performance and thermal management capabilities.

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--GE Aviation announced today that they were awarded a contract worth nearly $9 million in support of surveillance systems such as the U.S. Marine Corps Ground-Based Operation Surveillance System (G-BOSS) program. The contract includes the inertial reference unit, lab testing assets, integration, repairs and engineering support for the program. The work will take place at GE's facility in Grand Rapids, Michigan, with deliveries starting this year and ending in the third quarter 2017.

This week, Boeing’s new 787 Dreamliner powered by GE’s GEnx engines took off from Seattle for a record flight to circumnavigate the globe. The plane stopped only in Dhaka, Bangladesh for two hours of refueling.
