  • Naepo District Heating Plant, powered by GE Vernova’s advanced H-Class combined cycle equipment, now providing approximately 500 megawatts (MW) of electricity to the national grid and steam for district heating for over 100,000 citizens of Naepo City
  • The new gas turbine-based district heating plant will replace a previously planned Solid Refuse Fuel boiler plant
  • Project built on GE Vernova’ s extensive experience applying HA gas turbine technology to district heating projects in South Korea at GS Power’s Anyang plant

Wikipedia describes the art and fashion movement called Steampunk as a “sub-genre of science fiction that typically features steam-powered machinery, especially in a setting inspired by industrialized Western civilization during the 19th century.” But for Jason Philpott, who oversees power equipment at the Eastman Chemical Company’s plant in Kingsport, TN, steam machines made before World War II are no fad and much less fiction.

Natural gas is shifting from a regional and often marginal fuel to becoming a focal point of global energy supply and demand – we call it “the Age of Gas.” Earlier this year, GE predicated that gas consumption will grow by more than a third over current global levels by 2025, allowing for cleaner and less expensive fuel options to power the world.
