Every year, GE sends photographers, filmmakers and other artists around the world to document its technology in action. 2016 was no different. Pilot and photographer Adam Senatori flew to the Farnborough International Airshow to photograph the world’s latest and largest planes, Chris New went inside GE’s brand-new 3D-printing factory, and lensman and musician Ruben Wu visited America’s first offshore wind farm off the coast of Rhode Island. A Sense of Wonder: Photographer Vincent Laforet Tapped His Inner Child When Shooting Locomotives From High Above the Colorado Prairie

In March, GE invited the Pulitzer Prize-winning photographer Vincent Laforet to a remote locomotive testing facility spreading over hundreds of acres of shrubby prairie near Pueblo, Colo. Laforet hired a helicopter and produced stunning images of GE’s blue Tier IV train engine while circling over the moving machine.

The U.S. government is expected to allow commercial drone operations in 2015, which has already helped to spark a burgeoning market for small, cheap robotic aircraft. Chris Anderson, former editor-in-chief of Wired magazine, has been at the forefront of the industry, first by starting the popular DIYDrones.com website, and now as founder and CEO of drone maker 3D Robotics.
