STAMFORD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--GE Commercial Aviation Services (GECAS) announced today that during the first quarter of 2009 ending March 29 it placed 45 aircraft, including 33 aircraft from its existing fleet leased, 9 lease extensions, and 3 sales, representing a strong 15 percent increase over 2008 first quarter placements.

GE Marine, a unit of GE Transportation, announced today that the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) has type approved its new L250 engine family for ABS-classed vessel applications.
Introduced in September 2008, the L250 engine is US EPA Tier II certified and offers an average fuel savings of 9% at those emissions levels when compared to the previous generation of marine engines.
