GE Marine Engines, at its Evendale, Ohio facility, manufactured all the LM aeroderivative gas turbines for the following projects. The LM gas turbine-generator sets were built and sold by GE Aero Energy Products, a GE Power Systems business headquartered in Houston, Texas.

March 4, 2003 -- MIAMI, Florida - A GE LM2500 aeroderivative gas turbine recently began operating in a COmbined Diesel And Gas (CODAG) turbine, electric drive propulsion configuration aboard Holland America Line's Zuiderdam cruise ship. The 951-foot-long Zuiderdam debuted on December 14, 2002, GE reported today at the Seatrade Cruise Shipping Convention.

Boeing 777-300ER, Newest 777 Airplane, Completes First Flight

February 24, 2003 -- EVERETT, Washington - The Boeing 777-300ER today completed its maiden flight, beginning a 1,600-hour flight-test program that's expected to bring U.S. government certification by early next year.
The newest member of the 777 airplane family, with its distinctive red, white and blue paint scheme, took off at 10 a.m. Pacific from Paine Field in Everett, Wash. After flying a little over three hours, it landed at 1:02 p.m. at Seattle's Boeing Field.

China Southern Places $35 Million Order for GE90 Upgrade

February 10, 2003 -- EVENDALE, Ohio - China Southern Airlines has placed a $35 million order for 23 Performance Improvement Program (PIP) upgrade kits for the GE90 engines powering its Boeing 777 fleet.
China Southern, the largest airline operating in The People's Republic of China, is the fifth airline to order the PIP kit. Air France, Lauda, Kuwait Airways, and Saudi Arabian Airlines have also purchased the kit

GE90 Sets New World Record For Thrust; Engine Completes FAR 33 Certification Tests

February 5, 2003 -- Evendale, Ohio -- The newest derivative of the GE90 jet engine has set another world record for thrust, reaching 127,900 pounds during final engine certification testing.
The new record was set recently during testing of a GE90-115B development engine at GE Aircraft Engines' (GEAE) outdoor test complex near Peebles, Ohio. It eclipsed the engine's previous Guinness world record of 122,965 pounds of thrust.

GE T700 Well Suited For India's Multipurpose Helicopter

February 5, 2003 -- BANGALORE, India - GE's T700 helicopter engine is well suited to power India's new multipurpose helicopter.
The Indian Air Force is considering an order for up to 20 AgustaWestland EH101 helicopters for use in a variety of demanding missions. The three-engine helicopter will be required to meet stringent altitude requirements and currently, the T700 engine is the only fully qualified engine to operate above 15,000 ft on the EH101 application.
