A 20-Year Success Story: CFM In China

November 04, 2005 -- BEIJING, China - In 1985, two Chinese airlines, Air China Southwest and China Eastern Yunnan, took delivery of their first Boeing 737s. These airplanes were powered by CFM International's CFM56-3 engines. CFM was a very young company and these were some of its first orders. Since then, China has become one of the largest and most important customer regions for CFM, with 14 Chinese airlines operating more than 1,075 CFM56 engines powering nearly 500 Airbus and Boeing aircraft.

F404 Fighter Engines Expand Capability and Presence on T-50 Aircraft

October 17, 2005 -- SEOUL - GE's F404-GE-102 has successfully completed all propulsion qualification for the single-engine T-50 advanced jet trainer/light fighter during its flight test program, paving the way for introduction of the T-50 at the Korean Aerospace and Defense Exhibition this week.
The test campaign has accumulated over 1000 flights, and encompassed verification of altitude performance, maneuver envelope and handling characteristics -- including unrestricted throttle movements throughout the flight regime.

F110-GE-129 Fighter Engines Take to the Skies Powering the F-15K

October 17, 2005 -- SEOUL - GE's F110 engine is powering Boeing's newest fighter aircraft, the F-15K, which makes its public debut at the Korean Aerospace and Defense Exhibition this week.
First flight of the F110-GE-129-powered F-15K occurred in March 2005. To date, the F110 has powered more than 75 flights of the first five production aircraft. In 2002, the Republic of Korea Air Force (ROKAF) chose the F110-GE-129 (rated at 29,000 pounds thrust) to power 40 new Boeing F-15K aircraft, launching the popular F110 on the twin-engine application.

October 12, 2005 -- COLUMBUS, OH - The GE90-115B composite fan blade was honored as Best of Show at the American Composites Manufacturers Association's Awards for Composites Excellence. The Best of Show award is given to the entry that exhibits excellence in design, engineering, manufacturing, market significance, creativity, process innovation and use of composite materials.
Last year, the Museum of Modern Art in New York City acquired one of our GE90 jet engine fan blades. It was placed on view in the new Architecture and Design galleries.

Jade Cargo Selects GE Engines to Power New Boeing 747 Aircraft

October 07, 2005 -- EVENDALE, Ohio - Jade Cargo International has selected GE's CF6-80C2 engines to power its six new Boeing 747-400ER freighters. The engine order is valued at more than $250 million.
Jade Cargo International is a Chinese cargo carrier owned by Shenzhen Airlines, Lufthansa Cargo and DEG, a German bank. The company plans to launch operations next year with a route network that includes Asia, Europe and the Americas. The aircraft will begin delivery in 2006.
