Salzbergen, Deutschland - 08. Februar 2005 - Die Windenergie in Kanada erhält weiterhin positive Impulse. Ein aktuelles Beispiel hierfür ist der Melancthon Grey Windpark, eines der ersten großen Windprojekte in der kanadischen Provinz Ontario. 45 Anlagen mit je 1,5 MW Leistung von GE Energy sollen innerhalb dieses Projektes errichtet werden. Die Gesamtleistung des geplanten Windparks beläuft sich somit auf 67,5 MW.

Private Sector Investments Protect Children's Health

Since February 2005, a GE water purification plant has been producing approximately 430,000 liters of clean and safe water per day, benefiting tens of thousands of people. GE transports it daily to local hospitals, orphanages and other vulnerable populations in Banda Aceh and Aceh Besar. USAID is working with GE and other partners in camps to set up water and sanitation systems and to promote good hygiene and health care. Child deaths and disease are being avoided by promoting simple hand washing and basic hygiene, and by maintaining a supply of clean and safe water.

Exelon Nuclear, the largest nuclear generation company in the nation, has awarded GEbEnergy's Nuclear business a commitment to purchase adjustable speed drive units (ASDs) for its fleet of boiling water reactors (BWRs).

In order to boost plant efficiency and performance, GE will supply dual bank ASD systems for reactors at Exelon Nuclear generating stations in Illinois, a deployment that could be extended to retrofit other BWRs in the Exelon fleet.
