日本GEプラスチックス（本社：東京都中央区、社長：マーク・ウォール）は、同社真岡工場の敷地内に最新の設備と最高の顧客サポートを提供するために、投資額約10億円を投入して、「真岡カスタマーセンター」を設立する。同センターの完成は、本年9月予定で、日本の顧客に多様なサポートを提供する。
9月に開設予定の同センターは、総床面積約3700平方メートルで3階建ての施設となる。
1階は、エンジニアリングプラスチックスの新規アプリケーション開発及び新規プロセス開発に関するサービスの提供を目的としており、エコ電線製造用押出し設備、デスクメディア開発ラボ、特殊調色専用ラボといった施設を備えるほか、射出成形加工技術を検証するための射出成形機を6台、自動車業界向けのテスト装置として、歩行者保護を目的とした衝撃試験装置を設置、またエレクトロクスや自動車関連の顧客には、ハーネス・ワイヤーなどの強度を検証する引っ張り試験装置も完備している。
2階は、化学分析、物理物性測定及び二次加工に関するサービスを提供するフロアーであり、各種溶着加工用機器などの設備を導入する予定である。
