より高いリターンが期待できるビジネスに資本再投資する施策を推進
GEの個人向け金融サービス部門であるGE Moneyは、本日、日本の個人向け金融サービス事業を日本有数の金融機関である新生銀行に売却することで新生銀行と合意に至りました｡
GEコンシューマー・ファイナンス株式会社の全株式を譲渡することによって、GEコンシューマー・ファイナンスならびにその子会社が展開しているクレジットカード事業ならびにモーゲージローン事業、「レイク」ブランドのパーソナルローン事業を新生銀行に譲渡するものです。譲渡価格は5,800億円（54億USドル）で、必要な当局からの許認可など売却実行条件を満たすことを前提として、本年9月末までに譲渡完了の予定です｡
今回の合意に基づき、新生銀行は、対象となるGE Moneyの日本のパーソナルローン事業、クレジットカード事業、モーゲージローン事業を譲り受けると共に、日本の個人向け金融市場における地歩を強化する戦略の一環として、これらの事業に従事する社員の雇用を承継する予定です。

FAIRFIELD, Conn.--11 July 2008-- GE (NYSE: GE) today promoted Dan Janki, 40, to chief financial officer (CFO) of GE Energy, and Trevor Schauenberg, 39, to vice president of Corporate Investor Communications.
Janki, GE's former vice president of Corporate Investor Communications, succeeds Tom Saddlemire, who is retiring after a distinguished 38-year GE career. Janki will report to John Krenicki, president and CEO of GE Energy. His promotion is effective July 14, 2008.
FAIRFIELD, Conn.--10 July 2008-- GE today announced that it is continuing to explore all options for its Consumer & Industrial businesses with a primary focus on spinning-off the entire unit -- Appliances, Lighting and Industrial -- to existing GE shareholders. The Company announced on May 16 that a spin-off was one possible outcome of the strategic review of its Appliances division.

GE의 제프 이멜트(Jeff Immelt)회장 겸 CEO는 "가전 사업부에 대한 옵션 검토중, 산업부문의 포트폴리오 변환를 완결짓는데 있어 가장 빠르고 효율적인 방법은 소비 및 산업 사업부 전체의 분사화에 집중하는 것일 수 있다"면서, "이는 장기 성장을 위해 포트폴리오를 재편해 온 GE의 전략에 일치하는 것이며 GE주주들에게도 좋은 것이다"라고 말했다.
